PURPOSE OF POSITION  To ensure safe and efficient operation of electrical systems, maintaining, troubleshooting, carrying out repairs, and contributing to safety measures in using electrical items.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/KEY JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks on installed electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and correction of electrical faults.
  • Assist the utility administrator in planning a Preventive Maintenance Schedule for utility equipment.
  • Prompt response to electrical emergencies and implementation of corrective measures.
  • Installation of new electrical equipment.
  • Monitor and inspect solar and inverter installations.
  • Operate and maintain power generators.
  • Inspect and maintain fire alarm systems.
  • Support energy efficiency initiatives and measures
  • Give support for technological infrastructure installations.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of electrical maintenance.
  • Carry out any other sundry and assigned jobs by the supervisors as needed.

 

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • In-depth understanding of domestic and industrial electrical systems operation and maintenance
  • Planning and organizing skills.
  • Good diagnosis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent preventive maintenance mentality.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and use same for troubleshooting.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Customer service
  • Record keeping capability.
  • Good working relationship with external vendors.
  • Safety Consciousness

 

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS 

Minimum of National Diploma (ND) or equivalent in Electrical Engineering with relevant hands-on training.

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

Membership in any professional association will be an added advantage.

 

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in electrical installation and maintenance.
