International Students Office

The International Students Office (ISO) is responsible for all international student affairs, exchange programmes, study tours and international modules. In addition, the ISO facilitates international partnerships with renowned institutions  globally.
Our office provides information such as the application process involved for outgoing and incoming exchange students. Also, the ISO assists with the on-boarding of exchange students visiting LBS.

International Partnerships

Lagos Business School has partnered with some of the best businesses within and outside Nigeria and has benefitted immensely from partnerships with other business schools around the world.

We have a growing list of business school partners with whom student and faculty exchanges are regularly organised, as well as collaborations on programmes and research undertaken.

International Student Exchange Programme

Lagos Business School aims to broaden students’ global outlook through cross-cultural exchanges, and also facilitate essential business contacts abroad. We do this through our regular international exchange programmes and study tours with business schools in key regions of the world.

For international students, the LBS exchange programme offers a unique position to learn about the many opportunities for doing business in Africa’s largest economy, Nigeria. An integral part of the programme is encountering Lagos as Nigeria’s economic capital, West-Africa’s financial hub, and the world’s fastest growing megacity. With an accelerating urbanisation, a growing middle class, technological innovations and investments in Infrastructure, Lagos, within the next few years, is poised to become a key hub in Africa.

Students can benefit from our flexible exchange programmes varying from one to three months. Our programme includes classroom sessions, networking meetings with business leaders, experiential trips, seminars, conferences, internships, and cultural visits.

Student Exchange Partner Schools

Students are advised to see listings of active partner schools before applying for an exchange programme.

Inbound students

LBS welcomes students from exchange partner schools. We conduct exchange programmes for international students twice a year. Below is the academic calendar for inbound students.

Our activities, in line with our mission, can be broadly categorised as follows:

  • Academic Calendar

Exchange students are welcome to join in the first semester of the second year (October to December) or the second semester of the second year (January to March). They can choose courses in either the first or second semester for their convenience. The home institution should, however, approve the course selections and arrange for credit transfer for students on completion of the programme.

Click here to view the academic calendar.

  • Requirements

The student who has been selected by their home institution for an exchange programme at LBS is required to send the following information:

    A complete application form
    Curriculum Vitae
Digital portrait (format.jpg/150 dpi’s/207×266 pixels/coloured/formal wear from shoulders up)
The language of instruction in LBS is English.

  • Clubs and Societies

Exchange students are encouraged to join at least one Student-Led Activity (SLA) while in LBS. SLAs provide additional opportunities for networking, learning about new industries and carrying out developmental projects.

  • Student Visas

Once an international student has been accepted, the International Students Office (ISO) will assist in providing the necessary documents for visa application. Students may enter the country as tourists, but if they plan on staying longer than three months, it is advisable to find out the requirements for a visa application at the Nigerian consulate/embassy of individual countries.

  • Health Insurance

This may be obtained from students’ respective home countries. Alternatively, it can be obtained on arrival in Nigeria if an exchange student is unable to get one in their home country. It will cost about ($150) for three months.

  • Arrival in Lagos

International students will be received at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, by the International Students Office. Students are encouraged to provide information on the date and time of their arrival in Lagos.

Outbound students

LBS maintains exchange agreements with partner institutions around the world. Students are exposed to international experiences from our outstanding business school partners, as well as the culture and environment of their respective cities. Opportunities for exchange programmes, student tours and international modules are available throughout the year.

LBS students can view the International Students Exchange Calendar 2018 for dates of exchange programmes in our partner institutions.

  • Application Details

Students interested in exchange programmes are to comply with the application process of the host school through the MBA Office.

Students are encouraged to begin preparing for the exchange programme up to six months in advance.

  • Student Visas

The International Students Office (ISO) will assist students with letters of introduction for visa application.

Global Network for Advanced Management

In addition to our regular exchange partners, LBS enjoys access to 29 institutions around the world as a member of the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM).

LBS students participate in two main GNAM activities:

  • Network weeks held twice a year in various locations. This gives students an opportunity to gain from the perspectives and expertise of other schools’ faculty.
  • Small network online courses link students and faculty, virtually, to learn and work on projects together; thus developing cross-cultural perspectives.
