Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between a DBA and a PhD Degree?

Both degrees are terminal degrees. None is inferior to the other. What differentiates the DBA from the PhD degree is the nature of the output.  PhD is more theoretical while the DBA is more applied (output). The DBA solves a real-world practical business problem.

  • Can I get input and guidance from LBS faculty members during the development of my pre-admission proposal?

No. This will lead to some level of conflict of interest since the same faculty members will be assessing the eligibility of your proposal during the pre-admission screening.

  • Where do I get materials for putting together the DBA research proposal?

Google scholar and other industry sources are good resources to start with.

  • Can I change my research proposal and interest during the DBA study?

The pre-entry proposal isn’t usually the final proposal. After going through the two years of course work, your understanding, perception, and expertise would have been improved upon. You will spot errors and inconsistency in your pre-entry proposal. However, remember that the time frame plays a role in this.

  • As an alumnus of LBS, do I still need to request for my transcript to be sent to the DBA office?
