The Prelate of Opus dei visits Lagos Business School

The Prelate of Opus dei, Msgr. Fernando Ocariz visited Lagos Business School, as part of his one-week-long visit to Nigeria, between July 19 and 26, 2018. Opus dei is part of the Catholic Church with a mission to spread the Christian message that every person is called to holiness and that every honest work can be sanctified.

Msgr. Fernando Ocariz was welcomed by Management of Lagos Business School and Enterprise Development Centre, led by the Dean of the Business School, Dr Enase Okonedo. The Prelate had a meeting with Opus dei members, and in attendance were members of the faculty and administrative staff of both institutions.

In his remarks, the Prelate thanked attendees for the work they do to inspire people in the principles of Opus dei including offering support and guidance to help all those who want to aim at holiness in their ordinary lives, especially through their everyday work. Msgr. Fernando Ocariz completed his remarks by encouraging people to see business as service to society and country and authority as service to humanity.

The founders of Lagos Business School were inspired by the teachings of Saint Josemaría Escrivá, founder of Opus dei. The Prelature of Opus dei takes responsibility for guaranteeing that all teaching, publishing and research activities in LBS are based on the Christian vision of man, society, and economic activity. This ensures that LBS reminds people to respect and serve the dignity of the human person while carrying out business activities. Like other ventures promoted by members of Opus dei, Lagos Business School fully respects the freedom of individual consciences and is open to people of all creeds, races, and social conditions.
