Today witnessed the graduation of 141 Masters in Business Administration (MBA) students at the 16th convocation ceremony of Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) held at the Honeywell Auditorium of Lagos Business School (LBS).
The PAU annual convocation ceremony witnesses the conferral of Bachelor’s degrees, higher degrees and diplomas to students of the university and MBA students of Lagos Business School who have satisfied the requirements of their programmes.
Speaking at the ceremony, PAU Pro-Chancellor, Odein Ajumogobia SAN commended the graduands on their success and charged them to always choose excellence in their career. He said, “Success in the modern workplace is linked to innovation, creativity, and the ability to adapt and multitask. Your degrees have, thus, equipped you for the workplace and to navigate the marketplace as entrepreneurs and job creators”.
“What lies ahead of you is an exciting future if you are prepared to seize the moment, challenge yourselves and become problem solvers. Many of you will quickly be absorbed by deserving employers who have come to understand that PAU prepares its graduates to fit into the workplace and add value immediately”, said Ajumogobia. The Pro-Chancellor also added that some of the graduands are expected to go on to create new enterprises, be employers rather than employees, and to create a bright and rewarding future for themselves and families.
The graduating classes include Full-time MBA 16, Executive MBA 22 and Modular Executive MBA 5, as well as, Masters in Media and Communication (MSC FT 11 and PT 9), Postgraduate Diploma and a lone graduand from the Doctor of Philosophy in Media and Communication (PhD 2).
Delivering his response, PhD graduand, Allwell Nwankwo said, “I have heard that the PhD programme is a lonely, personal journey but for me, it was personal but not lonely as I got immense support from PAU faculty, staff and my family and friends. For all of us graduating today, I am bold to say that PAU has prepared us for a life of learning and examinations. I will always treasure my association with PAU for its outstanding contribution to my intellectual development and all that have passed through its iconic classrooms.”
Full-time MBA 16 graduand, Babatunde Akin-Moses commended LBS for instilling in him the requisite knowledge to kickstart a business of his own barely a year after completing the programme. Akin-Moses who, alongside two other MBA 16 students, co-founded a financial services company, Sycamore, said, “My co-founders and I struck a partnership and went ahead to set up a business based on the very practical knowledge we gained in the LBS classroom. I have been to a number of institutions in the country and none of them match up to the standard at LBS. I am extremely delighted to have benefitted from its offerings.”
The graduands were inducted into the Alumni Associations of both schools as they took the Alumni pledge affirming the devotion of their time and resources towards the schools’ development and the promotion of ethics in their business dealings. The session was led by the Alumni Relations Director of the schools.
The well-attended ceremony closed with cocktail, photo sessions and networking among families and friends of graduands.
