Ondo Government Visits LBS for Study Tour

Delegates from the Ondo State government recently commenced a three-day study tour of Lagos Business School.

The tour, which ends today, is aimed at evaluating LBS’ structure/administration, management of faculties/programmes and funding so same can be applied in a new ultramodern management training institute commissioned by the Ondo State Government following a visit to LBS in 2009. The Institute- tagged Public Service Training Institute – is scheduled for commissioning in September, 2014.

Commenting on the development, Mr Deji Akinwalere, Director General, PSTI, explained that LBS was a success story, and the state government felt it could positively impact the management of the state’s civil service by offering them something of that nature.

“PTSI may not be as elaborate as LBS, but it’s a great idea to provide the Ondo civil service frontline management training, especially the senior management,” explained Akinwalere.

He said the study tour, which would foster collaborations with and renewed mentoring from LBS before the Institute kicks off.

“I was last here in 2009, but I must confess that LBS has maintained and even surpassed its world-class standards. The environment is serene and neat, members of staff are still warm. Indeed, the tradition of quality is still very much in evidence,” he said.

The PTSI Director General, who made the trip with five other delegates, was welcomed by the Dean, Dr Enase Okonedo, and taken on a guided tour of the School’s facilities.

So far, the team has met with the Heads of several units/departments at LBS, including Finance and Administration, ICT, Faculty and Alumni Relations.
