Ogbechie Releases Book on Board Effectiveness

Lagos Business School faculty and strategy expert, Dr Chris Ogbechie, has contributed to the understanding of the relationship between board characteristics and board effectiveness in his book titled “Key Determinant of Effective Boards – Evidence from Nigeria”.

The book provides deep insights on board effectiveness in an emerging economy, unlike most studies on boards that centre on firm performance and developed markets; it highlights the role board characteristics and board processes play in contributing to board effectiveness as well as the importance of board effectiveness to the success of firms.

Put together in 9 easy-to-read chapters this book also discusses the necessary ingredients to optimise board performance. Board characteristics considered include board size, CEO duality, board independence, and board diversity. This book will prove useful to directors, investors, top executives, regulators, academics or anyone else who may be interested in the workings of boards.

Ogbechie teaches corporate governance, sustainability and strategic management at Lagos Business School.  He is also the director of the Etisalat Corporate Social Responsibility Centre and a member of the Management Board at LBS.
