NUC Commences LBS Reaccreditation Exercise

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has commenced the process leading up to the reaccreditation of Lagos Business School’s postgraduate programme.

A team comprising professors from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, University of Port Harcourt, Usman Dan Fodio University, Bayero University and a representative from the NUC were today at LBS to meet with the Dean, Dr Enase Okonedo and the School’s faculty.

Dr Okonedo disclosed that the team would be looking at standards covering the quality of faculty, student recruitment and administration, as well as classroom delivery, among others.

“The purpose of the exercise is to ensure we are in sync with the benchmark minimum academic standards set for our MBA programme,” she explained. “Right now, the only programmes we have are our postgraduate programmes which they are here to accredit.”

Typically, the NUC team would make their findings known to the Pan Atlantic University Vice Chancellor and the NUC, and subsequently get back to LBS on the reaccreditation of its academic programmes.

“We welcome the exercise because a successful reaccreditation attests to the fact that our programmes are of sufficiently high quality and the standards we maintain are very high. We would appreciate suggestions for any area of improvement because obviously, it will help us turn out better graduates,” Dr Okonedo added.
