LBS Partners LASG on Youth Empowerment Workshop

Lagos Business School recently partnered the Lagos State Government on a two-day workshop aimed at boosting the number of resourceful and employable graduates across the state.

Tagged ‘The Nigerian Youth and the Quality Imperative’, the workshop which held at the LBS Honeywell Auditorium, was also targeted at helping students connect theory with global best practices, develop positive role models, and compete favourably with their colleagues from private and foreign tertiary institutions.

About 250 undergraduates participated in the programme, which gave them the unique opportunity to experience LBS first-hand. They had talks on Probity and Accountability, Investment Opportunities in the Nigerian Capital Market, Youth Development and the Role of Corporate Social Responsibility, delivered by eminent academics and professionals across spheres.

Speakers who graced the event included: Mr Fola Arthur Worrey, Executive Secretary, Lagos State Security Trust Fund; Prof. A.M Ninalowo, former HOD, Department of Sociology, UNILAG; Mr Akin Ambode, Principal Partner, Brandsmith Consulting and Mrs Damilola Ogunbiyi, GM – Lagos State Electricity Board.

Coinciding with the 2014 International Youth Day, the workshop is an initiative of the Lagos State Government with which it motivates and empowers students, exposing them to the rudiments of development strategy.

LBS usually makes its world-class facilities available for select educational, entrepreneurial and professional events of this nature. This ties in with the School’s efforts to transmit management and business knowledge relevant to Nigeria and Africa at large.
