Lagos Business School hosts 52 graduates for 2019 edition of Venture in Management Programme

Lagos Business School (LBS) successfully hosted 52 young, exceptional individuals in the 2019 edition of the Venture in Management Programme (ViMP) that held between February 11 – 15, 2018.

The week-long programme organised by Junior Achievement Nigeria is an intensive session that simulates the LBS MBA programme by introducing National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and fresh graduates to business and general management education. Led predominantly by LBS faculty, participants were taught using case studies, panel sessions, and finished off with an entrepreneurship contest where they worked in groups to develop and present practical and impactful business plans.

Speaking on the continued partnership with JA Nigeria, LBS MBA Director, Dr Uchenna Uzo said, “We are committed to a similar vision which is to help young leaders take particular interest in entrepreneurship and service to society. Thanks to ViMP, we have a good number of young people who have now become forces for change in their immediate communities”.

On the future of the partnership, Dr Uzo said both organisations are looking to strengthen the relationship by developing new initiatives that will see participants passed into the pipeline of talents for the LBS MBA. He added, “We will see to it that this elite group of young people benefit from other LBS programmes and for those with other interests, we can adapt their needs into new knowledge areas for our programmes”.

The mini-MBA saw participants take lessons in entrepreneurship, communication, finance, business ethics, marketing and leadership. They also explored LBS’ history, mission, values, programme offerings and campus.

Describing the partnership with LBS as “constantly evolving and symbiotic”, Executive Director, JA Nigeria, Simi Nwogugu said, “We have partnered with Lagos Business School since 2001 because it is one of the top business schools in the world. The ViMP is purposed to get the students to have a feel of a business school and to learn like managers and executives. LBS provides the environment needed to achieve our goal.”

The programme also featured a job fair, an alumni mixer and closed with participants receiving their certificates of completion.

"LBS provides the environment needed to achieve our goal."
