The Nonprofit Leadership and Management Youth Academy Programme strengthens the leadership, management, and social innovation capabilities of emerging African nonprofit leaders aged 18–35, equipping them with practical tools to drive organisational growth, social impact, and sustainable change.

The Nonprofit Leadership and Management Youth Academy Programme builds the managerial capacity of young and emerging nonprofit leaders aged 18 to 35 across Africa. The programme is designed to cultivate three core pillars of competence required to lead a nonprofit organisation: leadership effectiveness, business fundamentals, and social innovation. Participants engage in an immersive learning experience covering leadership and strategic planning, nonprofit organisational development, human resources and volunteer management, financial stewardship, and corporate governance.
The programme equips participants with the skills to elevate their voices and respond to the intersectional and cross-cutting challenges facing society. It introduces feminist leadership principles and practical tools to grow organisations and movements, enabling participants to build purposeful careers in the nonprofit sector and lead impactful social innovation initiatives with greater confidence. The programme is supported by Ford Foundation West Africa, and outstanding applicants are eligible for scholarship support.

Dr. Franklin Ngwu | Professor of Strategic Management
Franklin N. Ngwu is Director of the Lagos Business School Sustainability Centre and an Associate Professor of Strategy, Corporate Governance, and Risk Management. He holds multiple degrees from the University of Manchester and Cardiff University, with over 20 years’ experience in academia, banking, consulting, and policy research in Nigeria and the UK. He has consulted widely for leading institutions, authored several books on corporate governance and CSR, and serves on advisory boards related to sustainability and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Ijeoma Nwagwu | Strategy and Sustainability
Ijeoma Nwagwu, Ph.D. (Harvard Law), is a legal scholar and sustainability expert who earned her S.J.D. and LL.M. from Harvard Law School, receiving the Landon H. Gammon Prize for academic excellence. A member of the Nigerian Bar Association, she has taught and conducted research internationally and currently manages the First Bank Sustainability Centre at Lagos Business School, where she teaches Strategy, Sustainability, CSR, and Social Entrepreneurship, while serving on several nonprofit and sustainability advisory boards.
Orevaoghene Atanya | Director, LBS Sustainability Centre, Lagos Business School
Oreva Atanya is a management executive, author, consultant, and academic dedicated to advancing sustainable development and the transformation of African economies and communities. She serves as Director of the Sustainability Centre at Lagos Business School, where she leads strategy execution and overall management of the Centre, while designing and delivering programmes on sustainability, ESG, and the circular economy. She oversees key initiatives including the Nigeria National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP) Secretariat, the Nonprofit Leadership and Management Academy, and the Innocent Chukwuma Social Impact (ICSI) Chair and Youth Fellowship. A published author of the three-volume series Management and Leadership for a Sustainable Africa and other works on corporate sustainability, she has advised organisations such as Coca-Cola, Tolaram Group, Ford Foundation, IFAD, dRPC, and the World Economic Forum’s Global Plastic Action Partnership, and serves on nonprofit boards focused on youth development and environmental conservation.
Osayi Alile | Impact Communication and Donor Engagement
Osayi Alile is a 2007 “Young Global Leader” (YGL) by the World Economic Forum, a Fellow of the African Leadership Network and an alumna of the Harvard Business School, IMD and Yale Executive Education Programs, Ms. Alile holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the University of Lagos and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA Pi Alpha Alpha.
Ms. Alile is the CEO ACT Foundation and consultant for Access Bank Plc on its CSR projects, Ms. Alile was the Executive Director of FATE Foundation, a leading private sector led not-for-profit organisation in Nigeria for 8 years
A facilitator/management trainer, she is also a consultant on non-profit management and strategy. A Sustainability Expert and Speaker. Osayi is the founding curator, Global Shapers Forum Nigeria.
Owing to her experiences, Osayi sits on the board of several organisations that includes Immediate past Chairperson Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ), House of Tara, Chairperson Zapphire Events, Culinary Academy and Global Dignity, an affiliation of the World Economic Forum in Norway.
