2. Douglas Kativu leads the GRI Africa Regional Hub, driving responsible business practices and accountability to enhance competitive markets and socio-economic impact across the region. With over two decades of experience, he has implemented governance, accountability, and sustainability initiatives in numerous African countries. Prior to joining GRI, he held leadership roles at the African Institute of Corporate Citizenship, Indalo Yethu, and Environment Africa, and has contributed to global initiatives including ISO 26000, the GRI Stakeholder Council, and SEED Action on Sustainable Development. He has played key roles in establishing responsible business platforms in Liberia and the DRC and brings extensive expertise in sustainability governance, strategy, stakeholder engagement, policy advocacy, and impact materiality. With a background in geophysics and qualifications in Environmental Management and Applied Physics, his interests span resource governance, waste management, renewable energy, and socio-economic development across sub-Saharan Africa.
