Professor Okechukwu Amah Donates 274 Books and Over 50 Audio Tapes to LBS Library

The donation reflects a commitment to lifelong learning, knowledge sharing and leaving a lasting contribution to the Lagos Business School community.

Lagos Business School (LBS) has received a donation of 274 books and more than 50 audio tapes from Professor Okechukwu Amah, adding a substantial collection of learning resources to the School’s Library.

The collection spans various fields, including management, leadership and strategy, and represents a valuable addition to the resources available to the LBS community. The handover took place on Professor Amah’s 73rd birthday.

From Personal Collection to Shared Knowledge

Explaining the inspiration behind the donation, Professor Amah noted that he began acquiring the books during his years in industry and continued building his collection after moving into academia.

The books played an important role in his professional and academic development, helping to deepen his understanding, inform his teaching and facilitation, enrich classroom discussions and strengthen his writing.

Having experienced their value firsthand, he felt the collection could serve a greater purpose in the hands of a wider community of readers and learners. Recognising that he could access many of the materials digitally, he chose to make the physical collection available through the Library so that others could benefit from them.

His decision reflects the value of knowledge sharing: resources that contribute to one person’s development can become equally valuable tools for the growth of many others.

Reflecting on His Journey at LBS

Reflecting on his experience at Lagos Business School, Professor Amah described the School as a character moulder that provides opportunities for growth, self-discovery and contribution.

He explained that he joined LBS with two key objectives: to bring his industry experience into academia and to contribute to the transformative impact of education by serving as a role model to those he encountered.

He noted that the School provides individuals with the freedom and opportunity to contribute and develop while upholding its culture and values. Making the most of these opportunities, however, requires personal initiative, creativity and a willingness to grow.

Acknowledging a Thoughtful Contribution

The Head of the LBS Library, Dr Odomero Omohwovo, and her team commended Professor Amah for his contribution to the School and the thoughtfulness behind his decision to donate such a substantial collection.

In his closing remarks, Professor Owalabi, speaking on behalf of the Dean of Lagos Business School, thanked Professor Amah for his generosity. He noted that Professor Amah had already sown a good seed for the growth of the School through his contributions, describing him as “a man of few words but more action.”

A Lasting Lesson on Legacy

Professor Amah also offered advice to colleagues and members of the LBS community on the importance of building a meaningful legacy. Reflecting on the legacy established by the School’s founders, he encouraged everyone to consider how they would want to be remembered and to begin living out those values through their daily actions.

In his words, “What you want to hear from them, begin to leave it now.”

He emphasised that sustaining an institution’s legacy requires more than preserving what has been handed down; it also demands a willingness to strengthen and advance it for those who will come after.

His donation is a practical expression of this principle. By making resources that supported his own professional and academic growth available to others, Professor Amah has created another opportunity for learning and development within the LBS community.

Through this gesture, he reinforces an enduring lesson: knowledge becomes even more valuable when it is shared, and a meaningful legacy is built through the lasting value we create for others.
