Dr Okey Nwuke is a foremost voice in corporate governance and institutional sustainability, renowned for strengthening organisational resilience and advancing the continuity of family-owned enterprises across Africa. A seasoned executive and governance strategist, he brings more than two decades of leadership experience spanning banking, technology, manufacturing, real estate, pensions, and mobility.
Dr Nwuke is a faculty member and Director of the Family Business Initiative at Lagos Business School (LBS), where he leads programmes that equip family enterprises to build resilient governance structures, develop effective succession pipelines, and evolve from founder-led to institution-driven leadership. His work is enriched by his doctoral research in leadership transition and by extensive executive experience, including a distinguished tenure as Executive Director of Access Bank Plc’s Corporate & Investment Banking Division (2004–2013), which informs his practical, systems-focused approach to organisational continuity.
He sits on several boards, including Access Bank Plc (Chair, Board Technical Committee on Retail Expansion; Vice Chair, Board Credit Committee), and advises governance and institutionalisation efforts across the Coscharis Group. He also chairs ActivEdge Technologies Ltd, the Shareholders’ Audit Committee at NASCON Plc, and the Audit Committee at Access Pensions Ltd. He serves on the board of First World Communities Ltd.
Appointed to the LBS Management Board in 2026, Dr Nwuke contributes strategic oversight rooted in governance excellence, risk management, and long-term organisational strategy.
Dr Nwuke holds a DBA in Leadership, an MBA (Distinction) in International Banking & Finance, and has completed the IESE/LBS Chief Executive Programme, as well as other executive programmes at Harvard Business School, Wharton, Stanford GSB, INSEAD, and IMD. He is a Fellow of ICAN, FCIT, and BRIPAN, an Honorary Member of CIBN, and a member of the Institute of Directors (UK & Nigeria) and the Society for Corporate Governance
