Research Assistant

Role Summary:

To provide comprehensive research support to faculty, including literature reviews, experimental design, and data management.

Qualification and Experience

The Research Assistant should have a first degree in social science or management science with a Master’s or research-based postgraduate degree and membership of a relevant professional body considered advantageous, alongside demonstrated experience in data collation and analysis within a medium to large-scale organisation or research institution. The candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Collaborate with supervising faculty to align research priorities, monitor progress, and support academic planning.
  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and contribute to high-quality scholarly publications, articles, and reports.
  • Support the full publication process, including editing, referencing, and professional formatting of academic outputs.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data through secondary research and fieldwork activities.
  • Assist with teaching support functions, including course material preparation, attendance tracking, and instructional duties.
  • Manage faculty coordination by maintaining schedules, organising sessions, and supporting academic engagements.

The candidate should also possess the following competencies

  • Quantitative and qualitative research skills, including data analysis and fieldwork implementation.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and software (e.g., Excel, SPSS) with strong online research capabilities.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills, including calendar coordination.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in transcription, proofreading, and referencing.
  • High adaptability with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
