The graduates were from three of the five main units of the Pan-Atlantic University which are Lagos Business School (LBS), School of Media and Communication (SMC) and School of Management and Social Sciences (SMSS) which started in 1991, 2008 and 2014 respectively.
Founder and CEO of the Centre for Values in Leadership (CVL) and the guest speaker at the ceremony, Professor Pat Utomi spoke on Possessing Exemplary Character and a need for citizen participation to transform the country. “Today is a great day for all graduates and their families, but I must remind you that the purpose of this education is not solely to enrich oneself but rather to build our fellow man. We must no longer continue the selfish mindset but desire to change the dark narrative of the country to one where our tomorrow is seen with hope and peace.”
At the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor, Pan Atlantic University, Professor Juan Elegido, congratulated all the graduates on achieving a huge feat and urged them to be worthy ambassadors of the institution which has over the years been among the top business schools globally.
Pro-Chancellor, Mr Pascal Dozie (CON), iterated the objective of the institution which is aimed at the well-rounded formation of the human person. “A conducive environment shapes the mind for success, and Pan-Atlantic University is structured in a way to promote a student to teacher participation. Furthermore, the lecturers possess the right skill sets to relate to promote mental wellness of all participants” he said.
The graduands from Lagos Business School comprised 69 participants for the Executive MBA Programme (EMBA 21), 27 participants for the MBA class (MBA 15), 21 for the Modular Executive MBA (MEMBA 4), 2 for the Doctor of Philosophy and 1 for the Master of Philosophy.
The graduands from the School of Media and Communication comprised 25 participants for the Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, 34 participants for a full-time Masters in Media and Communication (MSC FT10), 14 participants for a part-time Masters in Media and Communication (SMC MSC PT8), 4 participants for Post Graduate Diploma in Media and Communication (PGD) and Doctor of Philosophy in Media and Communication (PhD).
The graduands from the School of Management and Social Sciences comprised 19 participants for Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, 25 participants for Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Okereke Nnaemeka, one of the graduands, was delighted being a graduate of Lagos Business School. He said the programme had exposed him to new perspectives and ways of handling activities. “My programme at LBS is a life-changing one and has reshaped my thinking as I embark on a new journey.”
President of LBS Alumni Association, Clare Omatseye inducted the graduates into the Alumni Association. “Welcome to a privileged and a unique family of the LBS Alumni with over 7000 alumni members,” she said. She charged them to be ambassadors of LBS and build on the laudable achievements appreciated globally.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of dignitaries, all who were elated to celebrate with the graduating classes.
