LBS MBA participant shortlisted for International Trade Centre’s women competition

Lagos Business School Modular Executive MBA (MEMBA 7) participant, Olubusola Mada has emerged a finalist at the International Trade Centre’s Women’s Day video-pitch competition for ideas to empower women in business.

The International Trade Center launched the first ever video pitch competition to celebrate International Women’s Day. Tagged ‘Youth in Business: Pitching for Gender Equality’, the competition allowed women to pitch innovative ideas on how to support female entrepreneurs in a specific sector, country or region.

In Mada’s pitch, she highlighted the challenges that women-led businesses in Nigeria face and proffered solutions to sustain these businesses for the long-run. She said, “My goal is to grow 500,000 female-led businesses by establishing an organisation that will be responsible for developing co-manufacturing hubs where start-ups can create their products, sell on online platforms while also getting mentorships and training.”

A team of three students from the Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia who want to turn plastic waste into economic opportunities for women, doing good for people and the planet were announced winner of the competition.

Mada currently works at Diamond Bank where she manages Dreamville, its youth-centred financial service.
