LBS alumnus, Mohammed Rufai appointed Chief Technical Officer at MTN Nigeria

Lagos Business School alumnus, Mohammed Rufai of the Senior Management Programme (SMP 30) has been named Chief Technical Officer of leading telecommunications company, MTN Nigeria.

Rufai, whose appointment took effect on May 1, 2019, will be responsible for designing the company’s technology strategy, developing its technology infrastructure, and supervising the implementation of network operations.

Before his appointment, Rufai was with MTN Group as General Manager, Technology in South-East Africa and Ghana region and held the position of Chief Technical Officer at MTN Ghana until 2015. Rufai joined MTN Nigeria in 2002 as an RF/BTS Support Engineer in Kano and has twice been named CTO of the Year at the Ghana IT and Telecommunications Awards (GITTA).

In addition to attending Lagos Business School, Rufai has certifications from Cranfield University and Duke Corporate Education, India. He is a graduate of Computer Science from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

The Senior Management Programme (SMP) is one of LBS’ flagship programmes launched in 1993 to help senior executives stay grounded in the main management disciplines as well as improve on their strategic thinking skills.
