Lagos Business School faculty, Professor Chris Ogbechie delivers keynote address at AfBA Business Roundtable in Kenya

Professor of Strategic Management at Lagos Business School (LBS), Chris Ogbechie delivered the keynote speech at the 2018 AfBA Business Roundtable held in Nairobi, Kenya on Thursday, July 26.

The Roundtable was part of the annual conference of the African Bar Association where industry leaders and experts convene to discuss issues that affect business practice, trade, and investment in Africa.

Speaking on inter-Africa trade, Prof Ogbechie spoke on the essence of doing good business in Africa for Africans. He touched on Africa’s economy, its growth over the years and factors that have contributed to that growth.

According to him, “easy accessibility and harnessing of natural resources, the growth of consumer groups and target markets, growth of mega cities and increased urbanisation, greater focus on peace and education, and 20-fold mobile connectivity in the next five years are some of the reasons Africa is the next destination for doing business.”

LBS Faculty Director and Information Systems professional, Dr Olayinka David-West was also at the event. She spoke on the role of fin-tech and mobile money operators in facilitating trade in Africa and went ahead to moderate the panel discussion.

Other topics raised at the event include access to capital, financial institutions and the depth of capital markets, and the role of government in facilitating intra-African trade.

LBS aims to be the business school with the greatest impact on the knowledge and practice of management in Africa.
