Lagos Business School (LBS) alumnus of the Senior Management Programme (SMP 17) has been named Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, Zenith Bank.
Onyeagwu, who has functioned as the Deputy Managing Director of the bank since October 2016, will commence in his new role from June 1, 2019. According to the bank, “The appointment is consistent with the bank’s tradition and succession strategy of grooming leaders from within”.
With a career in banking spanning nearly 30 years, Onyeagwu has worked in internal control and audit and several managerial positions across branches of Zenith Bank in the last 17 years.
Apart from the LBS SMP, Onyeagwu has also taken other executive education programmes at the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Business School
The Senior Management Programme (SMP) is one of LBS’ flagship programmes launched in 1993 to help senior executives stay grounded in the main management disciplines as well as improve on their strategic thinking skills.
