332 participants of Lagos Business School’s Executive Education programmes have been inducted into the School’s alumni community at its annual Executive Programmes graduation ceremony that held on November 2, 2019.
The participants represented 12 classes including the first-ever Global CEO Programme (GCEOP 1), Advanced Management Programme (AMP 32), Owner-Manager Programme (OMP 27 and 28), Senior Management Programme (SMP 68, 69, 70 and 71), Agribusiness Management Programme (AgMP 10 and 11), and Management Acceleration Programme (MAP 6 and 7).
The ceremony was not without its usual excitement as the graduating participants and their guests filled the Honeywell Auditorium where they were sworn into the LBS Alumni Association by Vice President, Frank Aigbogun, presented certificates by Vice-Chancellor, Pan-Atlantic University, Professor Juan Elegido, and charged to make an impact as they move into the next phase of their lives and careers. Delivering this charge was LBS Dean, Professor Enase Okonedo who called on the participants to commit to changing leadership as we know it in Nigeria.
Professor Okonedo said, “Upon your graduation, each of you is called upon to be brand ambassadors of Lagos Business School, to be part of the solution by trying to influence society positively. The best way you can do this is through carrying out your duties, not only professionally, but with the right mindset and business ethics”.
In his keynote speech, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, FMDQ Group, Bola Onadele.Koko said the purpose of setting up the company was to make the Nigerian financial market globally competitive, operationally excellent, liquid and diversified. Speaking on ways to engender economic growth in Nigeria from the financial market perspective, Onadele added, “To thrive in any meaningful way in today’s fast-changing world, we need a fundamental shift in our thinking as to who has primary responsibility for starting the industrial agenda in Nigeria.”
The highlight of the ceremony was when presidents of the graduating classes took turns to announce their donations to the School. Global CEO Programme president and CEO, Transcorp Nigeria, Valentine Ozigbo announced that his class would be giving a sum of N3,650,000 to the School as part of their contribution to the advancement of teaching and research. MAP 6 class president, Dada Oluwole also announced a N1 million donation and scholarship for the kids of LBS external security staff for their professionalism and demeanour.
The 332 graduating participants have now become members of the over 6000 LBS Alumni community.
