Competency Based Selection

Overview:
Today's employment marketplace is so fiercely competitive due to a shortage of candidates with the right skills, talents and abilities, such that only organisations with high-touch recruitment and selection systems are able to acquire competent, top quality talent to grow with the organisation.  Haphazard recruitment and selection is a strategy that worked in the past but is no longer adequate. Developing the right recruitment and selection model for your organisation ensures that you have an effective strategy that is integrated into your overall business strategy. This will not only ensure the optimisation of your recruitment and selection activities, but the building of a winning team.

Programme:
By the end of the programme, participants would be able to:

  • Conduct effective selection interviews
  • Make appropriate hiring decisions

Faculty: Solomon Avbioroko
Solomon Avbioroko began his career as a broadcaster in 1970. He has a first degree in Industrial Management from North London Polytechnic, UK and a master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Lagos.

Solomon has over 25 years experience in manpower development.  He has initiated training programmes for corporate organisations in Nigeria and abroad, that have added immense value to organisational operations and benefited thousands of employees.  Before joining LBS in 2001, he had worked with the Industrial Training Fund, the apex manpower development organisation in Nigeria, for about 15 years.  He had also worked in Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, the regional office of the Coca-Cola Company, as the Training & Manpower Development Manager between 1994 and 1999. At the request of the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), he was later seconded to NBC to support the human resource function as head of management training.  He is currently the director of marketing at Lagos Business School.
