Corporate Social Responsibility Workshop for NGOs

Overview
Leading companies know that “Business as usual” has changed. Investors, media and customers want companies to address social and environmental concerns. Leading companies in the private sector recognise that they should develop strategies to meet these needs while remaining profitable. At the same time, many of the most effective non-governmental organisations (NGOs) recognise that they can achieve widespread and lasting change by harnessing the power of the market. To achieve these goals, companies and NGOs are finding ways to work together.

This emerging shift in NGOs/private corporations’ relationship creates an exciting new landscape of opportunities for both NGOs and the private sector to collaborate, increase capacity, sustainability and deliver service to the community. Yet such partnerships must not be entered into lightly. The choice of partner (the “who”), the articulated objectives (the “why”) and the mode of operations (the “how”) are decisive factors in the success of any partnership. Also, key is that after successfully indentifying corporate bodies whose objectives are in sync with theirs, NGOs will need to be equipped with the necessary tools that will make these companies want to forge partnerships them.

The focus of the workshop is on developing NGOs - business partnerships to serve the society. The event will provide capacity building training for NGOs who want to partner with businesses on their CSR programmes. The training will show NGOs how to prepare to work with businesses while still delivering their own bottom line.
