Centre Director – Sir Chris Ogbechie
Chris Ogbechie has a first-class honours degree in mechanical engineering from Manchester University, an MBA from Manchester Business School and a PhD in Business Administration from Brunel Business School in the UK. He has wide experience in marketing, strategy and corporate governance derived from his work as Head of Marketing/Sales at Nestle Nigeria and from his consulting work with Nigerian, Ghanaian and Kenyan firms over the years. While in Nestle he had wide international exposure in Malaysia, Singapore and Switzerland. He has been involved with several start-ups and he is on the board of several companies, private and public. He is the founding Director of the First bank Sustainability Centre, Lagos Business School and currently Chairman, Board of Directors, Diamond Bank Plc. He teaches strategy and corporate governance at the Lagos business School and Strathmore Business in Nairobi, Kenya. His current research interests are in strategy in turbulent environments, strategic leadership, board effectiveness, and sustainability. He has several publications in financial services marketing, strategic planning, corporate social responsibility and corporate governance.
Visiting Professor - Prof Kenneth Amaeshi
Professor Kenneth Amaeshi holds the Chair in Business and Sustainable Development and is the Director of the 'Sustainable Business Initiative' of the University of Edinburgh Business School. Following a career in management consultancy, he held positions at the Cranfield School of Management and the University of Warwick. He was a Chevening Scholar, a scholar of the International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility, Nottingham University Business School and a Visiting Scholar at Said Business School, University of Oxford. Besides teaching and researching, he works with businesses, NGOs and governments. Kenneth is a Committee Member of the prestigious Gifford Lectures and he currently leads the University of Edinburgh's Corporate Responsibility and Governance Network which is a platform for continuous interactions with industry players, policy makers, and the general public.
Centre Manager- Dr Ijeoma Nwagwu
Dr. Ijeoma Nwagwu earned her doctorate in Law (S.J.D) and Masters in Law (L.L.M) degrees from Harvard Law School and was awarded the Landon H. Gammon prize for academic excellence. After attending the Nigerian Law School, Ijeoma worked as legal counsel for the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), where she also produced documentaries on law, human rights and development themes with Channels Television Lagos and the Institute for Democracy in South Africa (IDASA). A talented researcher and lecturer, Ijeoma recently taught International Trade Law and Human Rights at St. Mary's University College, London and was on the research team for the World Bank Assisted Science and Technology Education Post-Basic (STEP-B) project in Nigeria. She has also conducted research trainings for the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) in Senegal. An active member of the community, Ijeoma volunteers on youth/education programmes and is passionate about finding creative solutions to educational challenges in Africa. She currently manages the First Bank Sustainability Centre at Lagos Business School.
Research Associate – Mr Godson Ikiebey
Godson Ikiebey is a Research Associate at the First Bank Sustainability Centre and holds an MSc in Marketing Communication from the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University. He was a founding Research Fellow of the Knowledge Economy Group; a think tank that conducted research on the knowledge economy in Nigeria. His research focuses on the interplay between implementing sustainability strategies, business development and socio-economic development. In 2012, he participated in a FORBES Africa forum and his contributions were published in the September 2012 edition of the magazine. He has worked as a consultant with the Association of National Olympic Committee of Africa (ANOCA), a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He is the lead author of the paper 'The meaning and uses of cause-related marketing" published in the marketing review journal in 2015 and reviewers for the journal;Business Ethics: A European Review. He's research interests include; public policy and sustainable development.
Sustainability Officer - Miss Oreva Agajere
Agajere is a sustainability practitioner, researcher, social media
strategist and project manager. She earned her MSc in Management from the University of Bradford, School of Management in
the UK and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Benin, Nigeria.
Following her passion for sustainability, Oreva published a book titled
Bottom Line of Corporate Sustainable Development in 2014. She also pioneered 'Sustainable Development Africa' an online platform dedicated to creating awareness about sustainable development issues and solutions in and for Africa. Her research interests include
sustainability in the oil and gas indusrty, sustainability reporting, social
entrepreneurship in emerging markets and stakeholder engagement. Oreva has experience as a project management and social media strategist at African Broadcasting Network and volunteered at the World Mission Agency while studying in the UK. She was the PRME Project Advisor and is currently the Sustainability Officer at Lagos Business School's First Bank Sustainability Centre.
Research Assistant - Miss Cynthia Obibi
Cynthia Obibi holds a First Class Honours degree in Geology
from the University of Ghana, Legon and
an MSc in Geoscience and DIC from Imperial College London. Pursuing her passion
for sustainability, Cynthia serves as a Research Assistant at Lagos Business School's FirstBank
Sustainability Centre, where she focuses her research
strengths on social, economic and environmental sustainability issues and how
responsible businesses can incorporate CSR and sustainability strategies in their business models in order to tackle
Research Assistant - Mr Oluwademilade Adesiyan
Oluwademilade Adesinyan holds a BSc. in Geography and an MSc. in Climatology from the University of Ibadan, Oyo state. Demilade currently serves as a Research Assistant at Lagos
Business School’s First Bank SustainabilityCentre. His research focuses primarily on energy, climate and environmental issues and the role of
businesses in ensuring environmental endurance through the integration and
propagation of sustainable business practices.
