We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children- Kenyan Proverb
Our Vision is to create a Nigeria and Africa in which individuals and businesses can meet their needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
The First Bank Sustainability Centre of Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University seeks to empower individuals and business organizations to implement sustainable solutions to Africa's needs for reliable energy, a resilient environment, as well as robust human and economic development. The Centre brings together theory and practice on sustainability, builds leadership skills and supports constructive dialogue and collaboration between business, government, civil society and academics to find solutions to critical sustainability challenges. The Centre is committed to equipping decision-makers and managers with the relevant skills to design and implement responsible and sustainable business strategies. The Centre achieves its mission through:
Research that is academically rigorous and policy-relevant
Courses on sustainability and management development in Executive Education, MBA and customized programmes; and
Business Action Platforms enabling constructive dialogue and collaboration between business, government, civil society and academics to find solutions to critical sustainability challenges in Nigeria.
Dr. Chris Ogbechie, a Corporate Sustainability and Strategy expert, who teaches sustainability, strategy and corporate governance in Lagos Business School, founded the Centre in 2010. The Centre began in partnership with Etisalat, a multinational telecommunications company, as the Etisalat Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility. In April 2014, it became the First Bank Centre for Sustainability, supported by a generous grant from First Bank Nigeria Limited, one of Africa's leading financial operators whose commitment to thought-leadership on sustainability is evident in their continued support.
