COURSEWORK

The course work is divided into three broad areas: Research Fundamentals; Management Basics; and Management Specialization.

  • Research Fundamental Courses: The Research Fundamentals curriculum is designed to provide the basic analytical, theoretical, and methodological skills required for research in management. These courses will help candidates develop the capacity to apply relevant tools of economic, financial, statistical and quantitative analysis.

  • The fundamental curriculum is composed of a set of seven core courses (common to all fields of specialization - all seven courses are required):
    • Mathematics (3 credit hours)
    • Probability and Statistics (3 credit hours)
    • Econometrics (3 credit hours)
    • Microeconomics (Theory of the Firm) (3 credit hours)
    • Behavioural Sciences and Organisational Theory (3 credit hours)
    • Research Methodology in Management (3 credit hours)
    • Design of Experiments & Multivariate Analysis (3 credit hours)
  • Management Basic Courses: The basic management curriculum is designed to provide an exposure and familiarity to different aspects of management. Graduates should have knowledge of the main business disciplines, comprising an understanding of their theoretical foundations, as well as the ability to apply this knowledge to actual problems.

    • The management basic curriculum consists of a minimum of five courses.
    • The School strongly believes that management practice should be based on sound ethical principles. As a result of this, all students are expected to take and pass the course on Business Ethics.
    • In addition to the Ethics course, students must select at least one from four of the following areas.

  • Specialization Seminars: The specialization seminars focus on training students in their chosen field of research. Specialization seminars are offered by the specialization department in the form of lectures complemented by reading courses or independent studies in areas of specialization.

  • Students are expected to take a minimum of two seminar courses (depending on the specific department and student’s interest).
  • For each seminar course, students are required to provide written summaries and critical assessments of articles and topics discussed in the seminars. This will form part of the overall assessment.
