CaptionTalent Management Conference
DescriptionTalent management is increasingly a business imperative. Many senior executives and talent managers believed that getting the right people on board was the one thing necessary if the organisation is to outperform its competitors; but it was soon realised that talent also has to be developed, engaged and retained.

The underlying assumption of most extant talent management models is that the right people (identified, developed and retained) will deliver superior results. Little attention is paid to the impact of the environment (both internal and external) on talent productivity. Organisational factors such as culture and the people philosophy have an impact on the ability of talent to deliver superior results. Important yet often overlooked factors in the external environment include the home, work-life balance, housing, power supply and transportation.

Given the current economic condition and the limited pool of talent, it is not surprising that talent management has become even more critical for organisational performance. Generation Ys are entering the work place with a different set of needs and expectations about their contribution. Talent managers need frameworks that address the peculiar needs of the environment and enable them win retain talent and increase the level of competitiveness of their organisations.

In this conference we present and discuss a comprehensive talent management model which we believe is apt for the African environment. We will share practical experiences and present research results on talent management in Nigeria and the African region.
