Dean's New Year Message

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year and very well wishes for a healthy, productive and successful 2016.

I am happy and honoured to announce the 25-year Anniversary of Lagos Business School. As we look back over the years, it is amazing to see how much has been accomplished. With your support, we have experienced and enabled countless success stories and I would like to appreciate deeply all who have been supportive of our work and collaborative initiatives.

We live and work in challenging times. Experts predict another slow year and I believe there is no better time for us all to rethink our purpose and refocus on our central objectives. Despite the challenges experienced, 2015 brought some remarkable successes and significant milestones. In May, LBS maintained its FT Ranking in Open Enrolment Education and made the FT's list of reputable custom education providers for the first time.  The School was accredited, in July, by the Association of African Business Schools (AABS) for its quality management education and contribution to African development. We are currently in the final phase of the EQUIS accreditation process and hope to be globally recognised for our quality education, this year.

To deepen our connection with you, we launched our first brand campaign in June; highlighting our brand proposition of enabling success by providing sound knowledge, the right attitude and a solid network. Throughout the year, we continued to forge partnerships with renowned schools and institutions to enrich our learning experience. Some of which include: Duke Corporate Education, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), Terragon Group, Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Institute for Work and Family Integration (IWFI) and Health Leadership Academy (HLA).

We also had some notable appointments at the School. A new Advisory Board, comprising renowned business leaders of indigenous and multinational companies operating in Nigeria, was set up; LBS Faculty and MBA Director, Dr Uchenna Uzo, was appointed to the LBS Management Board by the University Management Council of Pan-Atlantic University and renowned Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Fabian Ajogwu (SAN), was appointed as Professor of Corporate Governance. These significant nominations will contribute immensely to making the School one of the best providers of management education. Our faculty members continued to distinguish themselves with their myriad contributions and achievements.  Faculty publications, conferences and research initiatives at the School - and elsewhere - commemorated their insights and ideas.

The demands of the dynamic business environment require scrupulous attention to our academic programme and in developing new ways of ensuring that our students and participants are prepared for business and ready to lead, we continued to refine our curriculum and restructure our programmes to meet these imperatives.

With the sun setting on an interesting 2015, I enthusiastically look forward to truly exceptional things to come in 2016. As we celebrate our silver jubilee and kick off the year on a celebratory note, I hope to report on the successes of our programmes and initiatives this time next year.

We have had a great year and a remarkable 25 years at Lagos Business School, but surely the best is yet to come. I thank all of you for your encouragement, advice, and friendship in the past years and count on your usual support as the year unfolds.

A very happy new year to you all.
